Art Galleries & Studios:

Passion Works Studio
Where: Athens, Athens County
Passion Works Studio supports arts collaborations between adults with developmental disabilities, artists, and other community members. The studio produces jewelry, ornaments, cards, and many other works of art.

The Art Barn
Where: New Plymouth, Vinton County
The Art Barn offers visitors a chance to see artist Scott Baxter at work. Pieces available for purchase include walking sticks, colored pencil art, decorative benches, wood carvings, tables, and woodburned art.

The Kennedy Museum of Art
Where: Athens, Athens County
The Kennedy Museum offers a wide variety of art collections and exhibitions. The museum’s art collection includes Southwest Native American arts and crafts, African textiles and jewelry, and a renowned post-1945 print collection, just to name a few.

Markay Cultural Arts Center
Where: Jackson, Jackson County
Operated by the Southern Hills Art Council, the Markay Cultural Arts Center is a 1930s Art Deco movie theater. The center displays local works of art and provides visitors the opportunity to meet with the artisans. The arts center also hosts the annual Foothill Arts Festival that features visual arts, live music, and youth arts activities.

The Dairy Barn Arts Center
Where: Athens, Athens County
The Dairy Barn features a diverse array of exhibitions, festivals, and educational programs. Two of the center’s most celebrated shows, the Quilt National and Bead International are widely recognized and represent the cutting edge of their mediums.

Market Arts Center Gallery
Where: Waverly, Pike County
Market Arts Center features many mediums of art work - watercolor, oils, sculptures, wood, photography, featured monthly artists, and much more. Classes and open studios such as painting, knitting, songwriting, and poetry are also offered at the center.


Prussia Valley Dulcimer Music Shop
Where: Waverly, Pike County
This Shop features handmade dulcimers, auto harps, banjos, and many other fine instruments. Owners, Gary and Toni Sager are well known for their performances, workshops, and their love for bluegrass music. Visitors are always invited to sit and play.

Riverbend Arts Council
Where: Middleport, Meigs County
The Riverbend Art Council is an organization dedicated to promoting the arts throughout the county and contributing to the growth of the community through the vitality of art. The council provides classes in art, music, dance, and various crafts.

Performing Arts & Historic Theaters:

Stuart's Opera House
Where: Nelsonville, Athens County
Located in Nelsonville’s Historic Arts District, Stuart’s Opera House was built in 1879. Today, it is home to local, national, and internationally acclaimed performances. Hosting over 75 events a year, it’s one of the regions premier theaters.
The Union Hall Theater
Where: Chesterhill, Morgan County

Built in in 1908, this historic theater has long been an inportant part of the community. The theater has seen a wide range of speakers, musicians, artists, and dramatic entertainers. Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, the tradition continues today.
Fur Peace Ranch
Where: Darwin, Meigs County
From concerts to work shops, Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch is a music lovers dream come true! The ranch is an instructional facility, restaurant, concert hall, and conference center. To put it simply – it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the music!
Ohio University's Performing Arts
Where: Athens, Athens County
OU’s Performing Arts Series brings the world of theater, music, dance, and art to life. Working with the university and the community, the Performing Arts Series features performances from around the world as well as the surrounding region.
River City Players
Where: Rutland, Meigs County
The River City Players is a non-profit organization serving Meigs and the surrounding counties of Ohio and West Virginia. They offer a diverse variety of theatrical activities and performances.
Twin City Opera House
Where: McConnelsville, Morgan County

Built in May 1892, the Twin City Opera House is a Victorian-style theater located in the Historic District of McConnelsville. Over the years, the Opera House has accommodated an endless variety of performers and celebrities and has hosted a wide range of theatrical and musical performances.

Nelsonville Historic Square Arts District is home to a many unique galleries and shops. Final Fridays is a celebration of the arts that takes place on the last Friday of every month. Here artist and musicians display their work.
